Our Story

Tricia Martin

Tricia Martin is the founder and director of Nudge On. Her career has spanned the classroom to the corporate boardroom, driven by one persistent question: how can we build practical and real-world solutions to help the next generation transition to the next phase of life? Nudge On is her answer to that question.

Tricia is an FYA Young Social Pioneer and an Australian Women Leading Tech Finalist. She also coaches an Under 9’s netball team in her local community, which she thinks is just as impressive. She continually looking for ways to use technology and digital experiences to meet people’s needs and find people-centred solutions to messy problems. She spends her free time reading sci-fi books, scouring thrift stores and watching Buffy for the fifteenth time.

Chapter 1: Mario Cart to Messy Problems

When Tricia was in high school, her greatest skill was the speed at which she could hit the Ctrl+Tab buttons on her PC to switch between Mario Kart and what she was actually supposed to be doing in her computer tech class.

It was only after her time studying Anthropology and tinkering with digital learning design in her corporate job that she understood the potential of technology to help out with messy and very human problems.

Chapter 2: A phone note and nudge

Fast forward several years, and Tricia found herself as behaviour change and career readiness facilitator, working with over 35,000 young people across Australia. Over this time, she listened as countless students shared their apprehension about future career opportunities. After one session, she typed a note in her phone that would change everything: “What if moving into a career was clear, irresistible and frictionless?”.

Over the next several years, Tricia spent her days immersed in Nudge Theory and digital learning solutions in her role as a learning specialist at EY, and her nights imagining ways that technology and behavioural insights could be used to help the next generation transition seamlessly into the workplace.

Chapter 3: Work but make it purposeful

When life transitioned online in 2020, Tricia saw an opportunity to shake up how the next generation could engage with the world of work. In 2021, she founded Virtual Intern, a digital platform that connected businesses and their future workforce via digital, real-world work experiences (that people actually wanted to do).

With a team of instructional designers, audio-media specialists and graphic designers, Virtual Intern nudged the next generation towards meaningful work, and helped organisations, regions and businesses to solve messy problems around talent acquisition, workplace engagement and recruitment.

Chapter 4: Plot twist

As the world continued to throw curveballs, Tricia increasingly heard the next generation calling out for more than work readiness solutions – they wanted world readiness solutions. In 2023, this demand saw Tricia transition Virtual Intern into Nudge On, a for-purpose organisation offering bespoke, white-labelled, behaviourally oriented and simply irresistible solutions that prepare people for the world of tomorrow.
